Charlie the Crow and His Silly Gifts

Large text for little eyes.

One sunny afternoon, Mia was playing in her garden when she heard a loud “Caw!” A scruffy crow tumbled into the grass, holding its wing at a funny angle.

“Oh no!” cried Mia. She carefully scooped him up and whispered, “Don’t worry, little crow. I’ll help you.”

She made a tiny bed from an old shoebox, fed him corn, and even wrapped his wing with her favorite rainbow scarf. Mia named him Charlie the Crow.

The First Thank-You Gift

After a few weeks, Charlie’s wing grew strong again. Mia opened the window wide and said, “Fly free, Charlie!”

Charlie flapped his wings, circled above the garden, and disappeared into the sky. Mia thought she might never see him again.

But the very next morning, tap, tap, tap!—Charlie was back at the window. He proudly dropped something shiny into Mia’s hand.

It was… a spoon!

Mia laughed so hard she nearly spilled her cereal. “You silly bird! Is this your way of saying thank you?”

Socks, Buttons, and… Rubber Ducks?

From that day on, Charlie never arrived empty-beaked. Every visit came with a new surprise.

One day, it was a lonely sock. Another day, a wobbly button. Once, he even dropped a rubber duck onto Mia’s porch with a triumphant “Caw!”

Mia’s family called it “Charlie’s Treasure Chest.” They kept all the funny gifts in a big glass jar, which soon looked like a museum of the world’s silliest collection.

“Next time,” Mia giggled, “maybe he’ll bring me a teapot!”

A Feathered Friend for Life

Charlie became more than just a crow; he became Mia’s best feathered friend.

Whenever she played outside, Charlie hopped along behind her. If she drew with chalk on the driveway, he’d leave little crow footprints in the middle.

And of course, he never stopped bringing gifts.

Mia smiled and told Charlie, “You gave me the best present of all, your friendship.”

Charlie fluffed his feathers, gave a proud “Caw!”, and dropped a shiny marble into her hand.

The marble rolled across the porch, and Mia laughed until her belly hurt.

The End !
