The Mouse Who Chewed Through a Zip Tie – How Nimble the Art Room Mouse Saved His Friend Luna

Large text for little eyes.

Once upon a time, in a bright and bustling school, lived a small brown mouse named Nimble. Nimble didn’t live in the walls like other mice; he lived in the art room supply closet, where there were crayons to sniff, glitter to tiptoe through, and cardboard castles to nap inside.

No one knew he was there, except Luna, a kind and curious girl who stayed after school to paint. She would always leave a bit of apple or cheese near the paint jars.

“You’re braver than most,” Luna whispered one day, smiling as Nimble peeked out. “You could be a hero, you know.” Nimble twitched his whiskers proudly. A hero? Maybe someday.

A School in Trouble

One stormy afternoon, a loud crash echoed through the school halls. The lights flickered, and the power went out.

The janitor called over the speakers, “All students to the main hall, please.”

But Luna had gone back to the art room to find her sketchbook—and didn’t hear a thing.

Suddenly, the door slammed behind her.
It wasn’t the wind. It was a strange man in a black coat, rummaging through drawers and muttering to himself. He didn’t see Luna right away, but when he did, he panicked.

“Too many questions,” he growled, grabbing a zip tie from his bag and tying Luna’s hands behind her back. Then he locked the art room and ran off, leaving her alone and scared on the floor.

The Whiskered Rescue

From a shelf above, Nimble peeked out. He had seen everything. He watched Luna wiggle her fingers and try to stay calm. “It’s okay,” she whispered to herself. “Someone will come.”

Nimble knew he was small. But he also knew something else: He had very, very sharp teeth.

He scurried down the shelf, sniffed the plastic tie wrapped around Luna’s wrists, and got to work.
Nibble. Chew. Tug. Bite.
The zip tie was tough, but Nimble was tougher.

After a few minutes—SNAP!—the tie broke free. Luna gasped and hugged him close. “You did it! Nimble, you’re my hero!”

Heroes Come in All Sizes

Luna ran to the hallway and told the teachers what had happened. The man in the coat was caught before he could leave the school, thanks to Luna’s quick thinking and Nimble’s bravery.

The next day, the principal made an announcement: Yesterday, we were helped by a very special hero.
He may be small, but his courage was mighty.”

From that day on, the art room closet became The Hero’s Corner, with a tiny golden plaque that read:
“Nimble the Brave – He saved a hand, and helped a friend.”

And whenever kids needed a little courage, they’d visit the art room, leave a crumb by the paint jars, and whisper,
“Thank you, Nimble.” Because heroes don’t always roar. Sometimes, they squeak… and chew through trouble.

The End !
